HON. SYD VASQUEZ with his Pilot Project on Multi-Crop Solar Dryer used in Virginia Leaf Tobacco Flue Curing which is 50% Solar Energy Efficient thus reducing dependence on firewood during Tobacco Flue Curing period and during off season it was used as drier of mushrooms, saluyot leaves, tomatoes and other vegetables produce by farmers.
ENVIRONMENT FRIENDLY MULTI-CROP SOLAR DRYER was set up thru the initiative of HON. SYD VASQUEZ in cooperation with PSTO-DOST Abra and CAR Regional Office, PCIERD-DOST and NTA Batac Research Department. It was proven that it will reduce dependency in firewood as Heat Source to 50% during Flue Curing of Tobacco Virginia Leaf except during Color Fixing Period which is just a day.
