OVERCOMING EFFECT OF JULY 16 EARTHQUAKE IN THE CORDILLERAS PARTICULARLY BAGUIO CITY

POVERTY ALLEVATION FUND PROJECTS

HON. SYD VASQUEZ together with the Civil Society and Concerned Citizens of Abra for Good Government (CCAGG) conducts conference at the Office of the DENR Hon. Victor O. Ramos pertaining to violation of Forestry Laws in the Cordilleras particularly Abra.



HON. SYD VASQUEZ personally follow-up Poverty Allevation Fund Projects at NIA-Central Office with NIA Administrator Hon. Rodolfo C. Undan for Abra's Accelerate Development after the Cabinet Regional Meeting held in Bangued, Abra led by his Excellency Fidel V. Ramos. (see attached Letter of Approval by his Excellency Pres. Fidel V. Ramos thus resulting to Release of Poverty Alleviation Funds in the amount of 41.5M).

HON. SYD VASQUEZ PERSONALLY DISCUSS PROBLEM ON CEMENT SHORTAGE WITH BACNOTAN CEMENT:

HON. SYD VASQUEZ together with DTI personally conduct dialogue at Bacnotan Cement Factory in Bacnotan, La Union was sent by Hon. Sec. Jose Conception Jr. of the DTI to seek explanation behind the shortage of cement and give priority to Abra Road Construction Projects.



HON. SYD VASQUEZ actual inspection of the output capacity per day at Bacnotan Cement Factory together with DTI Abra and DTI Regional Office. As a result Abra's road projects was given priority. It also resulted to a CLOSURE of one Lumber and hardware because of DTI Violation.

HON. SYD VASQUEZ personally convey his message with school children in the Upland Communities the value of his PROVINCIAL ORDINANCE on Singing " Masdan mo ang Kapaligiran" by Asin every Monday and Friday of the Flag Ceremony. A corresponding Order from DECS was issued to this effect. Therefore until now it is apparent that when children see HON. SYD VASQUEZ they sing the said Environmental Song.



HON. SYD VASQUEZ discusses with the Indigenous People in the Upland Communities of Abra the beauty of Community Base Forest Protection Program as well as Alternate Livelihood Opportunities to marginal Abrenian Farmers like Organic Farming to reduce dependence on chemical Fertilizers which are very prohibitive and worst destroy the quality of their soils and the potential of Vinecraft and Ethnic Crafts for the Export Market.

SARILING SIKAP PROJECTS to Enhance Development of Abra's Tourism potentials:

HON. SYD VASQUEZ personally conducts inspections with DENR in various Crystal Caves in Abra Province for possible funding from the Department of Tourism and the DENR.



HON. SYD VASQUEZ personally inspect locally made/indigenous of corn shelling used by farmers in Sallapadan, Abra. Extended his Heartfelt Appreciation for their Sariling Sikap to increase productivity as a solution to poverty.
